Cruz-Munoz obit pic

Carlos Alberto Cruz-Munoz, 82, of Palm Coast, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House. Carlos was born on February 6, 1933 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the late Zacarias and Gregoria Cruz (Munoz).

As a young man Carlos served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he joined the New York National Guard for a year. Later he worked in an accounting department in publishing. After retirement Carolos and his wife moved several times most recently coming from Puerto Rico 6 years ago. Carlos was a past Grand Knight with the Sherman Shine Council #569 in Queens, NY. and was an usher at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and playing tennis, as of late he solved crossword puzzles and read.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Paula Carreras Nieves Cruz; son, Carlos Cruz Jr. and his wife Nilda of Farmingville, NY; daughter, May and her husband Israel Toledo of Queens, NY; sister, Mary Amador of NJ; brothers, Raul Cruz-Munoz of Ft. Myers, Jose Luis Cruz-Munoz of Kissimmee, Miguel Antonio Cruz-Munoz of Miami; grandchildren, Angela Mercado, Erica Cruz, Jonathan Cruz, Nicole Diaz; great-grandchildren, Dominique Mercado, Moses Mercado, Sienna Kateridge, Elizabeth Hall-Diaz, Jeremy Ramirez, Melissa Ramirez and Adalynn Ramirez.  

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June11, 2015 from 10:30-12:30PM at the chapel of Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road, S. Flagler Beach. A Funeral Mass will follow 1:00pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Entombment with Military Honors will take place at Flagler Palms Memorial Gardens.
